Hey Ya'll
I'm new to the amazing world of photography and can't get enough of it at the moment! Both my parents are experienced and worked and played with it during their spare time when they weren't working (my dad was a graphic artist always taking pictures when he wasn't the Fire Chief and my mom was a photographer for the Army). So I'm hoping somewhere there is a small artistic gene that was passed on!
I was bitten by the photograhy bug and have been attatched to my wonderful Nikon camera (thanks mom and dad) after having had a shoulder replacement at the ripe old age of 27! I've always had a camera in my hand since I was little but not one quite as remarkable as my Nikon!
It proved to be a great rehab exericse for my shoulder to lift that camera and I feel that it lifts me up looking through the world that my lens can create.
I hope you enjoy looking at my gallery and find growth in my pictures as I continue my journey through my daily photos. PLEASE offer your comments and suggestions so I can learn!

Thought today would be a good day for my first post of a SP. Today is my birthday and this year is the first year that saying my age feels old! One of my patients yesterday told me I should find a new job b/c I'm too old to play!!
Thought this was fitting ;-) so I pulled it from another one of my galleries (I know I cheated a bit b/c it's not a fresh photo but yesterday was such a long day and I fell asleep with the camera around my neck before I had a chance to get any shots... it was extremely early too around like 8... guess I am getting older!)

I like this one. My friends are all about fun and during our hour out on the beach they were swinging their son all around and racing and jumping so it made for some great, fun shots. This was one of the more precious shots I guess. Still a lot of fun but it shows their closeness.

Wouldn't it be nice to sleep this soundly again?! My friend just had the sweetest little girl and she sleeps like a rock!! She also has the squishy cheeks that I just adore!
This was taken a while back so she's a bit more grown now but the cheeks are still just as squishy!

Friday April 3

Sunday my great friend, mentor and co-worker was married in a very small house ceremony. Her new hubby allowed me to steal away the rings very quickly so I could get this shot and a few others. This one was one of my favorites because I could see the detail on JoAnne's ring. An Irish ring for an Irish wife and Husband!

Good Morning! I went down to the beach last Friday and took some pictures of a friend of mine in her wedding dress. We happened to have the most amazing sky and twilight! This was a picture I took that I obviously played around with a bit. I had so many pictures and lots of duplicates...the sky was so gorgeous on this photo!!
the curious camel gave me some great feedback so I edited a little bit more so you could seeher frame (particularly her head)

Good Morning! When I leave for work the sun is still not awake yet so since my internet is still down (darn cables, I'm still trying to sort them all out) I looked through some of my archives and stumbled upon this one.

July 22, 2009 Hi Everyone! It's been a VERY long time I know! I have not kept my word, I have NOT done a daily photo. This challenge has been a lot harder than I thought. I actually got tired of my camera. Maybe not tired as much as frustrated. Part is computer crashes and a boyfriend that came home from a very long trip... and the other part is frustration with my inexperience. I found that I do better when I have something to shoot and not something that I have to seek out to shoot. I have so much to learn and being creative is the hardest part. It's the talent part of it and it's something that I have to find within myself. When I am inspired I do well when I have to come up with an inspiration I fail. To me that is the mark of true talent and a true artist and it's something that I admire in all of you. So, I did something I'm not proud of... I took a break and put my camera down.
This past weekend my friend Amy who I recently just met but funny has become one of my closest friends asked me please will you take maternity photos for me. Her husband is deployed out to sea and has missed almost all of her pregnancy. What I found is that not only is she a gorgeous girl and I felt like I was shooting a real model. But she gave me so much inspiration that I had an incredible time shooting her and I had so much fun positioning her and having her do crazy things! So I sort of found my passion again. Thank you Amy!
SO consider me back on the dailies. And forgive me but this is the week of Amy's belly! PLEASE offer me HONEST feedback as it is an opportunity for me to grow and learn. AND please offer suggestions as to a better shot!
This is my favorite out of the batch. I have so many I like but this is my favorite.

Day 3 of belly pictures! This one happens to be another one that I like. It's just a very simple one where the baby happened to kick :) Nothing really special about it, it's straight out of the camera. I did a couple of variations, a black and white etc but this one I think is the best of those.

Today I'm heading out the door to go to a patient's memorial service.
A few of us decided to make the 3 hour drive because this little one was so dear to us.
I usually come home after a patient has passed away and light a candle. This candle is my way of grief and coping with the loss. When the flame burns out (however long that may take) then I can move on and remember the life and the happiness they had (however brief that may have been)
This was the candle I lit for my little one. I have worked with her for as long as I have worked with the hospital. She was 5 years old and no one expected her to make it through her first year. She was an amazing bright soul and she taught us so much: I think that's the beauty of my job and why I'm "called to do it" to learn from my kids.

"“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

She will shine one of the brightest. So look up tonight if you have a clear sky and smile when you see a bright star!
